Fang - [Art] Serpent Fang and Ridge References Seabird_zps6b797afe
Player's name: NPC (DECEASED)
Character's name: Seabird
Gender: Female
Character's age: 16
Soulname: Kallik (Only know be her recognized)
Tribe: SeaFolk
Tribal Position: Huntress

Appearance: Seabird had bone-pale skin and long black hair that fell past her waist. Her face and features were narrow (much like her son, Serpent Fang’s, are). Her long fingers were webbed as were her ears. Her black hair was often windswept and tangled from the hours she would spend perched on the rocks fishing. Her eyes seemed to be the only thing her son didn’t inherit from her; they were stormy grey and cold. Seabird rarely smiled, but when she did it was like the sun breaking through the clouds after a fierce storm.
Body Build: Seabird had a small build. She was short and delicate looking, but her muscles were strong.
Usually Seen Wearing: Often decked out in an outfit of deep sea green and pale blue, her skirt swept down her right leg, leaving her felt bare. Her top consisted of a shirt that came down just below her bust and crisscrossed up to her throat. On her right arm she wore a sleeve-like covering. She also wore a pair of sandals that laced up her leg, consisting of the same shade of sea green as the rest of her outfit.
Weapon preference: Seabird wielded a spear and a hunting knife while out on her hunting and fish endeavors.
Magic:Beabird had no known magical abilities.

Family: Seabird was mother of Serpent Fang. She was recognized to another elf of the SeaFolk, but she refused to openly recognize him. Her recognized is presently unknown to all in the tribe except for a few (Serpent Fang is included in those who know).

Personality: Seabird was a free spirit. She was fierce and stubborn. She had a short temper and was very independent. She didn’t want to be tied down by anything or anyone. She was a dreamer and wanted to live her life as she saw fit. She was known for the occasional sharp word, but she would never hurt anyone. On the rare occasion when she would smile, her warm and gentle undertones would show through. Seabird was very much all bark and no bite. She was very opinionated, though, and would someone know what she thought of something even when her opinion wasn’t desired.

Likes: Seabird loved the beach and she loved the windswept rocks where she preferred to fish. She also loved pearls and the black-and-white feathers from the seabirds that soared over the ocean. She obtained her name because of them. Seabird also loved swimming.
Dislikes: Seabird strongly disliked her recognized. She hated very few things, but he was one of them. She also disliked storms because they hindered fishing and exploring.

Skills: Seabird was a skilled fisherman, a very strong swimmer, and (oddly) a decent tree climber.

History: Seabird was born during a storm that rocked the holt more than five hundred years ago. Her life was much like that storm, short, but strong enough to rock a few lives. She was an explorer from a young age and very, very independent. She was a handful for the pip-minders and her parents, but few could deny such a sweet face. As she got older, her independence only stronger, but her smiles diminished. She could often be found roaming the beach when she wasn’t fish. She could also be found (more often than not) listening to Kaimeta’s stories. She had few cares in the world, figuring that she would have her whole life ahead of her to smooth out and settle down. What she didn’t expect was to one day be crouched beside a tide pool, watching the creatures in it, when she looked up and her world fell apart.

It started with a heart lurching instant of looking up into a male-elf’s eyes. She felt everything fall out from beneath her as she looked up at him. A word, a strange word, flitted unbidden through her mind. It was then that she knew she had just recognized him. Seabird refused to rise up and meet him, though. She ran away into the forest where she wandered, lost and starving for days.

Her mind and body screamed at her to go back to the tribe and face him, but she couldn’t. She was afraid. It was a WolfFolk who found her in her distress. He brought her back to the beach. He didn’t ask her what she was doing in the forest because he knew the signs of a denied recognition.

For weeks Seabird fought recognition. She rarely was seen in the Holt and grew thin and snappish. In a show of defiance to her recognized, she became lovemates with the WolfFolk she’d met. She spent most of her time in the forest and avoided the Holt altogether.

However, recognition couldn’t be refused forever. It was breaking her and, finally, her lovemate persuaded her to accept it and move on. She didn’t even have to tell anyone who it was that she’d recognized, he told her. She sealed the recognition, leaving moments after it was complete.

She never told anyone who she'd recognized, but there were some who could guess it.

Seabird became pregnant and found herself bitterly resenting the cub she carried within her. She fell deeply in love with her lovemate, though, and planned a future with him of raising her cub together, as some elves raised half-SeaFolk, half-WolfFolk cubs. They planned to live at the edge of the forest in sight of the beach, the edge of both the SeaFolk and WolfFolk territories. They knew they'd raise the child together despite them being full sea-elf. Evidently, it wasn't meant to be.

Seabird was on her way to meet with her lovemate, they child was due any day now. The healers of the SeaFolk tried to spot her from going, saying it was too dangerous and she was too close to giving birth. Always stubborn Seabird refused to listen and felt the Holt when the healers were preoccupied. She made it to the beach just fine and even into the shelter of the forest when she realized something was wrong.

She went into labor alone and unprotected. She found herself in horrible pain. There was so much blood! In terror, Seabird did the only thing her panic mind to think to do. She sent to her lovemate, calling him in fear and pain. He raced to her side, all the way from the WolfFolk Holt.

Her lovemate was at her side as quickly as he could be. He crouched beside her, realizing what was happening he sent for help, but it came too late. Seabird realized she was dying. She'd had no love or the child she carried, but fear that her child would die with her changed something in her last moments.

Seabird had learned her soulname from her recognized, but it had never meant anything to her. While she lay panic and dying, a strange calm came over her. Seabird found herself understanding who she was in a way she had never imagined possible.

Either way, though, she was still dying. With too much blood and in great pain, she delivered an undersized baby who she was sure wouldn't last the night. She cradled him in her arms before she died. She looked into his tiny face and loved him more than she’d ever loved anything else in her life. She sent to him once, showing him all of her love and longing to raise him before her last breath escaped her. In the same instant, she sent to her lovemate, giving him the greatest treasure she had to offer: her soulname.

Her lovemate vowed to look after Seabird's son, but he knew he couldn't take the babe from his tribe. Unable to survive underwater, he found himself torn. As the child, Serpent Fang grew, he found himself haunting the edge of the forest where he could sea the beach through the trees. He often saw Serpent Fang as the sea-elf grew, but why he didn't have a more active hand in raising Serpent Fang was a mystery.

Seabird's death was felt by her lovemate, her son, and her recognized. Her recognized, however, moved on and eventually recognized again. He had another pip and told no one that he was Serpent Fang’s father. When Serpent Fang was just joining the hunt for the first time, he sent to him, showing him his mother standing on the rocks with wind tossed hair and a smile on her face. It was the last time he’d seen her smile. He tried to forge a bond with his son, but Serpent Fang pushed him away, refusing to share anything with his father.

Any Other Information: Serpent Fang greatly resembles his mother from his general appearance to his personality.

(well, given that elves without wolf blood can't grow body or facial hair I'd say it would be without, but mmmm. he looks goooood that way.)

Photobucket urls are confused, there's usually a direct link to the image available without sorting and filter indicators, you should just be able to remove everything after jpg and have the right url.

a little hint about linking any image. right click the image you want to link to, and go to properties. copy the url link there, and put that for the image url.

also, on the forum we have an image hosting thing, the double picture icon in your editor. i generally use this, because it's easier and the middle link is all you have to copy and paste to put an image on the forum

Serpent Fang is full SeaFolk, but Seabird took on a WolfFolk lovemate while she was still trying to reject recognition. Her lovemate was the one who persuaded her to accept her recognition. She got pregnant with Serpent Fang. She and her lovemate planned on raising Serpent Fang as though he were halff-WolfFolk and half-SeaFolk.
