Ridge

Post by Ember Robinwood on Fri Aug 01, 2014 4:14 pm

Player's name: Ember Robinwood
Character's name: Ridge
Gender: Male
Character's age: 92
Soulname: Vade
Tribe: WolfFolk
Tribal Position: Cub Minder and (part-time) Tanner

Appearance: Ridge is a young elf with tanned, but not dark, skin, warm brown hair, and walnut-brown eyes. His face is diamond shaped. He has a broad forehead, high cheekbones, and slanting, slightly arched eyebrows. His nose is on the slightly broader side. His lips aren’t quite full, but they aren’t thin either. Ridge’s eyes are almond shaped and wide set. His hair falls just past his shoulders and is parted in the middle.
Body Build: Ridge is leanly muscled and on the slightly shorter side. He’s not broadly built, but he isn’t small either.
Usually Seen Wearing: Ridge is usually seen wearing a simple pair of leather trousers with a belt that carries a pouch on it and a belt knife. His trousers are made of deer hide, making them durable, but flexible. He wears a pair of soft-soled moccasins. The pouch on his belt contains a number of things including a wooden needle for sowing, thin strips of leather, and a few beads and feathers. The belt pouch is the most extravagant thing Ridge wears because it’s embroidered with a floral design and his hawk feathers hanging from it. The belt he wears is made of braided leather. His belt knife is used largely for cutting hide and fashioning it into manageable peaces for tanning, but is used for whatever else he needs it for.
Weapon preference: Ridge wields a belt knife for everyday uses. He also carries a bow and quiver of arrows whenever he leaves the Holt because he knows the forest isn’t safe even at the best of times.
Magic: None

Family: Son of Freespirit and ???; Nephew of Oakroot; Nephew of Redfern (deceased); Possible cousin of Stormcloud (believed to be Redfern's daughter); Grandson of Springleaf and Hawksaim; Older brother of Leaf (will be Siskin) and Twig (will be Redfawn)

Personality: Ridge is a calm young elf. He’s gentle handed and sympathetic. Ridge is very understanding and never asks too many questions. He believes that everyone’s business is their own, but he’s always willing to listen. He’s the one many cubs come to because they know he won’t turn them away and will listen to them. Because he’s so young, he’s often a playmate to the young cubs. He became the Cub Minder of the WolfFolk because of his way with younglings and his understanding of them.

Likes: Ridge likes minding the cubs, tanning leather, tree climbing, and hunting alone or with others. He also likes crafting things with his own two hands. He’d rather keep busy, but he doesn’t mind lounging in warm weather with dream berries and friends.
Dislikes: Ridge greatly dislikes trouble. He’s young at heart and doesn’t mind mischief caused by cubs, but he doesn’t like mischief when it become problematic. He doesn’t like storms or rain in general because it soaks everything and makes tanning leather unmanageable.

Skills: Ridge’s skills include tending cubs and younglings, tanning leather, and climbing to the slenderest of branches in trees.

History: Ridge was born into the WolfFolk almost a century ago. His mother was affectionate and watchful while his father was the type of proud father who provides for the tribe and who expects their cub to one day be the best hunter in the tribe. Ridge was a playful cub, always getting into mischief, but he became very quiet when he and his first wolf, Fur, were practicing hunting in the woods, but weren’t careful while riding through the trees and Fur’s hind paw was caught on a root. Both elfling and wolf went toppling. Fur’s paw was broken and had to be carried back to the Holt between two fully grown elves. Ridge stayed by Fur’s side, watching as the healers worked with both herbs and magic to heal the wolf’s paw. Even after Fur’s paw was healed, he never could race through the trees at full speed again. Fur became a loner because he couldn’t help the pack hunt. It broke Ridge’s heart to see the pack disown Fur, but he took it upon himself to hunt everyday on his own to provide for his wolf friend. Over time, Fur aged and his joints became stiff, his old injury almost rendering him immobile. Because Fur was almost immobile, the cubs of the WolfFolk would climb all over his furry side, pull his ears and tail, and generally be a nuisance. However, Fur was laidback and put up with the cubs. Ridge, having become far more gentle and understanding since Fur’s injury and aging, would smile and stay by the wolf’s side, watching over the children. Fur’s death was a painful blow to Ridge and the cubs who had always played with (and on) him. Ridge became reclusive for a time. He remained in the Holt, ignoring anyone who approached him, even the cubs. It was a tanner who grew annoyed with Ridge and pulled him to his feet one day and dragged him to where the leathers were kept. He demanded that Ridge make himself useful if he were going to mope around the Holt rather than going hunting or gathering. Ridge learned from the tanner and slowly pulled himself back together with the tanner’s rough affection. Ridge came to love helping the tanner, but he realized how much he missed the cubs he’d kept an eye on when he himself was little cub. He took to helping the tanner part-time and minding the cubs the rest of the time. He bonded with Pathfinder recently (four years ago) after years without a wolf-friend. He was a little put off by Pathfinder's aloofness, but it was a relief that his current wolf-friend isn't similar to Fur when it comes to personality.

Any Other Information: Ridge is fond of the SeaFolk. He finds them interesting, but he tends to keep their distance from them because he doesn’t often go far beyond the Holt. He doesn’t know any of them personally, but he has nothing against them.

Bonded Animal:
Name- Pathfinder
Age- Four years
Gender- Male
Species- Wolf
Appearance- Pathfinder is medium sized tan-and-brown wolf. He has a few hues of grey mixed is as well.
Pack rank- Beta
Personality- Pathfinder is an independent wolf who’s not the most affectionate. He’s the type of wolf who will lay near his rider, but who won’t snuggle with. He’s aloof, but very loyal to Ridge and is protective of him.

* there's one instance where Fur is named instead of Ridge, "Fur became reclusive" should probably be Ridge. Smile

also, please let us know if you would like your group changed from SeaFolk to WolfFolk...because you have a character in each tribe, you have the liberty to choose which group to belong to.

Thank you! I'm not really sure what being part of each group affects, so I guess I'm fine as staying part of the SeaFolk.

well yeah we have no idea what would happen if we added someone to both groups...that's why it's just easier to add them to one.
