[art] Apogee's Elfy things
Over on my deviantart account I have a whole batch of elves that I've made for people over the years. They generally belong to my "Otherforest" world, which is based on and has many similarities to, but is definitely not Abode.
I'll keep this page updated occasionally, here's Coral with an actual coral background (trip to the Scripp's aquarium last year, man underwater things are hard to photograph well).

heheh! Well I wanted to post the figure there, mostly.
I love me some skinny boys. >_>
I also love video games. Couple years ago I got into Half Life, and this happened.

Re: [art] Apogee's Elfy things
And a long, long long time ago I was a member of the Twin Peaks Glimmering Falls Holt - a snail-mail old-school holt that had a ton of members and a lot of elves in it. I actually did a full holt image, .... finished inking it about a day before one of the members had a meltdown and decided to yank all her (considerable number) of characters out of it. Thus, the story illustrated by this image as well as the image itself here could never see the light of day due to the number of characters I wasn't willing to alter just to suit her hissy fit.

Coral is very regal looking! What's your DA and do you post stories about your otherworld? Love the group picture.. it's sad that no one's ever seen it Glasses make Cutter look old lol

(psst: there's a deviantart link right under the profile picture! which I think is really cool since I don't use other forms of links!)
Generally for the Otherforest, I make short stories personalized toward the individual they're about. So I will write "second person present tense" as though I'm telling you a story, though for any stories that involve and are distributed to multiple people, I go back to third person past tense.
For the most part I've had to slow down / stop on those because frankly there are still about 80 of them that I wanted to make and have never gotten around to. I started on the Protector holt (people I played City of Heroes with) and got a huge response, but then the game closed and everything else happened, so they are still kind of just waiting in sketch form.
What I've been working on for the last bunch of years, however, is my Repurposed fanfic mashup - it's half life, portal and Fear (with some other bits from games like Bioshock and like that thrown in) and is a monster. It's over 450 pages and I still haven't gotten the group of characters to Europe, which has to happen for any of the events in hl2 to be approached, not that they happen in the same way as the games, since they're nowhere near a 'retelling' or 'this character from this universe visits the other one' - they're thoroughly mixed together and with some good reasons. (If you know the games, you may see similarities between certain characters, namely Gman and Paxton...)

Hah, actually I knew I put something up. The Protector Holt's first-8 arrival.
In City of Heroes, team size maxed at 8 - convenient when elves count in 8s! I tried to keep their arrivals in clumps that way but I only wrote the two pages which are linked.

I finally finished reading that story, Apogee (I'm really slow with things if you haven't already noticed). It was AMAZING! It was intriguing and I could easily visualize the world and the characters in it. You have beautiful writing! I loved it! ... any chance there is more ;D

Re: [art] Apogee's Elfy things
lol Well eventually I might do more, but I have to get my character sheets out of storage. I needed my world of Zekira ones and that's what I grabbed last time i was there, but I know where all my Otherforest characters are. I've actually been needing them to finish up one specific story that should have been done 2 years ago but lazy and storage rooms will do that.
I can gear up for them though - which means, "you get to fill out a form for me"
People who are interested, just take a look at the form and info, I'm sure I'll get some fun replies here.
There's information overall on the creation of Otherforest elves,
http://www.droppin-the-fork.com/elves/of-creation.htm
and linked on that page also are bits about the Appearance:
http://www.droppin-the-fork.com/elves/of-app.htm
and the actual 'form' which I should probably just make in here somewhere it'd be easier that way I suppose.
http://www.droppin-the-fork.com/elves/survey-text.htm
used to be an actual form but the site hosting the form bin and files broke, so I had a bunch of broken requests that couldn't be done. this way, either I'll get an email or have a thread about it.

Whenever you'd like to give it!
Also, for folks wanting to become an Otherforest Elf, I *can* arrange for those who wish to be together to remain so, otherwise individuals split up and go to the most appropriate location around that world. Since this is an "internet invite" the elf would arrive at the Startree Holt, where the Dragon Clan mostly came out. Whether anyone stays there, depends on their personality or desires.

I'll send it in as soon as I can, which should be no later than early September.

Either or, honestly I usually did the Hall for specific people I know in real life because I know where at least 2 of the Earth portals lead (and there are several) but the one that comes from "fictional earth" could do for this too.
Re: [art] Apogee's Elfy things
I'm excited to read more of your writing! Do you have a map of the Otherforest?

Re: [art] Apogee's Elfy things
I do, it's on the main Otherforest page.
http://www.droppin-the-fork.com/elves/otherforest-map-2012a.png
(huge map is huge)
Also, I can *make* a character out of anyone almost instantly. The only delay would be in interactions with other elves that I might need to dig out who is where (and even then, I have a massive amount of existing material on my hard drive for them too, from time line info and names, to holt roles). The stories I usually make are introductory, like the one I posted, but specific and customized.

That map is so detailed and awesome! The only thing it's missing is moving pictures created by elfin magic ;P
And so you never write the stories and adventures of the characters?

Re: [art] Apogee's Elfy things
Well, when I have time and reason to do so. I have made several "epic" stories which contain a large number of characters, whenever I make a group arrival that tends to spawn stuff in my head. I used to write a lot of elf stuff, but I've been more on my World of Zekira and Repurposed works for several years. When I write, it just kind of pours out of me, honestly. There are however plenty of stories about the Otherforest which I have never put down on paper, though they exist in my head pretty well. I don't think I ever actually finished writing up the big tale of Alorel and the chase that led to him being exiled off the Otherforest - in that story I linked above, there's a mention of a "boarded over" portal: that's the one that he was sent to. Alorel ... is a favorite villain of mine, lol.
Re: [art] Apogee's Elfy things
You cruelly taunt me with these wonderful sounding stories! DX *dies of curiosity* Alorel has a really cool name too

Re: [art] Apogee's Elfy things
Al has gone through some interesting incarnations, actually. He's been in the Otherforest setting. But also I adapted him, sort of combined him with another character I have that's FAR more crazy and scary, for use in a long-gone online holt (Skyhaven, a bunch of rather snooty near-high-ones in their lofty home).
And then he was a superhero. Well, a villain, anyway, in City of heroes. That's where I first used facial hair on him and he looked hot. well to me!
heh, here's a triple threat: one of my drawings of him, his city persona, and hugh jackman who would make an incredibly hot version...

He seems like the kinda' villain that's easy to fall for!
