There wasn't anything really worth while to take pictures of while camping, but I did howl! It was only once, though, because I was worried I would disturb people :O

How do NPCs work? for RP?

pretty much anyone can control them...though it's generally a good idea if it's one person per npc...though lemme give an example

the fighting npcs in the rp= i control the seafolk one, but say apogee gets involved. he can say the seafolk throws a punch at him, which can or cannot land. normally this would be against the rules, but npcs are not official characters.

it's better not too many people try to control them, or things start getting wonky. does this make sense? am i making sense?

Yep sounds good. Also What do you think of making an NPC folder so to speak for named ? With general personality, name and maybe a tad more so folks could reference them and we could have continuous Npc's for use till the tribe gets bigger?

well...it's certainly a viable suggestion. i'll discuss it with kai. it could be a npc topic that later could be turned into "available for adoption". answers will be given when they are figured out!

That's usually how other holts I've been in, including snail mail ones, were done. Create a set of 'stock' characters with clearly defined roles, personalities, and appearances - available to play by anyone, or interact with your own characters.

I wound up adopting several npcs along the way when I was with the Twin Peaks Glimmering Falls holt, and really enjoyed developing them further than they had when they were just bare bones.

But it definitely helps when there's a listing, because just kind of inventing them on the fly is confusing at best, and only the person who mentions them really knows anything - if they know anything at all about them - enough to work with them. I'd feel uncomfortable mentioning who might be watching this scuffle between completely unknown characters, right now. I don't know what they look like aside from "one has green hair", and that they're young/known to fight. Not really enough for anyone else to go on, unless much more description is done. Far easier to build an npc section and point to them.

i generally consider NPC's to be...well throw away characters. usually used just to make the storyline more interesting, or move the story along. but as i said, kai and i will discuss it.

In all other role-plays that I've been a part of, NPCs were characters played only when necessary and by designated people (usually moderators).
