Everhome Tree-Crowspirit and Silence Empty Re: Everhome Tree-Crowspirit and Silence

Crowspirit snorted, **I'll try to remember, but I don't think you need to worry.** She hummed in agreement, eyes still on the sky. Out in the open it was too large for her liking, but she didn't mind it when it was fragmented by the forest canopy. In fact, she rather liked it. The she-elf looked to her friend, lips upturned slightly, as he settled in beside her, **I would love to hear,** she answered warmly.

Glancing down at the package, she sniffed. It was an interesting smell. Saltier than the game she was used too, and it smelled cooked. She wondered if it had come directly from the sea, or if it merely lived by it. **What is it?** she asked, eyeing it curiously.

Happy, that he made her curious, he started to explain.
"It's called a daggertooth and it's the biggest fish you've ever seen, I know it's cooked but it taste delicious, and a friend of mine risked his life to get it. Please try it. You won't be sorry."

Silence used his voice because didn't want to frighten her with the images who were swirling in his head. He would go slowly and carefully. His face showed enthusiasm and eagerness for her to try it. "I will tell you the story after you tried it "He smiled his most charming smile and waited for her reaction.

Crowspirit slightly raised her brow at the use of his voice, transitioning to her own to match him. "Does it have very sharp teeth, or are they just very large?" she asked, taking the package. She unsheathed Fang and cut it open, sliced a piece from the chunk, and placed it in her mouth.

She closed her eyes, trying to close off all other senses so that she might be able to experience the taste in its entirety. It was unlikely she would have 'daggertooth' often, or even ever again, so she wanted to know exactly what it was like.

As she slowly chewed, she contemplated her feelings for it. It was definitely interesting, but she wasn't sure if she liked it. Finally, she spoke. "It is very different from our food," she noted thoughtfully, "But I like it."

Opening her eyes, she smiled brightly at him. She carved two other slices, placing one in her mouth and handing the other to Silence. "Thank you. Will you tell me the story now?" She sat up straighter and turned herself to face him more.

Silence beamed, he knew she would like it. He took the slice and thanked her, ** I find it special to, once your acquainted with the strangeness, it's delicious.** He savored his piece, now he could tell her the story.

"Well, the seafolk call it a daggertooth, because he has a lot of large sharp teeth." He showed the length of his arm," they are at least that long." The fish is a dangerous hunter, there exists smaller ones but they are all good hunters, they hunt by taste, they can taste blood in the water from miles away." He paused and waited for her reaction. " I can show you a picture, the seafolk brought the thing ashore." He offered.

Her eyes widened at the size of the teeth. She had seen many things in the forest, but a fish with teeth that size? Perhaps the SeaFolk were not as soft as she thought.

"In the water, their taste would be like our smell, then?" she queried, taking another slice. Then, she nodded. She was beyond curious as to what the daggertooth looked like. She was sure it was far different from how she pictured it.

As she chewed her third piece, she realized that this was the kind of food that tastes worse the more you eat. She would admit it was delicious the first time, but her tastebuds were not used to it and could only handle so much. **This needs to be eaten in moderation,** she mused as she finished her mouthful.

Silence grinned at her comment to eat it with moderation ** I guess you're right, it's not something you can eat every day.** He wrapped the last of it back in the leaves.

You're right, their taste is like our smell. It's the same for seafolk, they use taste like we use our smell. I asked Snaketwist about the blood, if it had the same copper taste and apparently it did, he sent me some images of the hunt, he and two other elves killed it.**
Silence sent her images of the dead daggertooth on the beach, the elves seemed dwarfs against the enormous fish.He continued with some images of Snaketwist's memory." He told me that the gills and eyes were the weak spots, gutting it with a spear in the stomach works too."

**If you see that beast, the tusk pig we encountered today seems nothing against it, the daggertooth would swallow it in one piece.** There was a little jealousy and disappointment in his sending.

**That lives in the sea?** Crowspirit asked, awed by the ferocity of the beast. She had most certainly misjudged the SeaFolk. She found herself wondering if the sea-elves had to encounter creatures like the daggertooth on a regular basis. **Are the hunters alright?** She asked.

She nodded to herself. The weak spots of the creature made sense. Water creatures and land creatures may not be as different as they seemed.

Then, she cocked her head, **There was a tuskpig?** She had heard of the missing cubs, but no one had sent about a tuskpig. It had most likely been encountered while the elves were searching for the cubs. **Was anyone hurt?**

Everhome Tree-Crowspirit and Silence Empty Re: Everhome Tree-Crowspirit and Silence

Silence was thoughtful for a moment, he hesitated before he answered Crowspirit** I think that it had been very close for one of the seafolk, because the high one was very weary after the healing ** Silence sent her the image of Kaimeta on her way to the food tables to get some more energy before she could heal him.

He then smiled at the memory of the tusk pig. ** Straystar had divided us in groups, I decided to follow Brooksong, Stormcloud and Sunsong. When we were looking for the cubs, Sunsong found a nest of little tusk pigs. The baby sit was huge and surprised us.**
Silence showed her the image of the sow, just before she charged.

** Can you believe it? Stormcloud attacked, she threw a dagger! It only enraged the sow, she charged right at Stormcloud.** He sent a full report of the event, ending with his jump to save Brooksong.

** It was amazing but did you know that Brooksong had healing abilities? She healed my arm before infection could set in, the high one had very little left to heal. Now I don't even have a scar to prove that it really happened.** Silence, showed her his arm and snorted, there goes my credibility. **I was the only one to get hurt and we had Tusk Pig for dinner, maybe it was not so bad at all.**

Everhome Tree-Crowspirit and Silence Empty Re: Everhome Tree-Crowspirit and Silence

Post by WolfCandy Tue Jan 06, 2015 9:34 pm

**They are lucky the hunter lived,** Crowspirit sent gravely, thinking again about the large, sharp teeth. She felt bad for the High One; being a healer must be an exhausting and heavy weight. Would Brooksong's youthful glow be dimmed by the burden?

She remained silent as her friend sent her a replay of the tuskpig's attack, lips curling up slightly at the end. She already had great respect for Silence, but his valiant act served as a reminder of why. **I'm glad that we have skilled hunters among us, or your group may have suffered much worse casualties.** She did not compliment his heroics, preferring an unspoken acknowledgement over a direct one. **Did the SeaFolk like your catch?**

**A healer? That will serve the tribe well. Hopefully it will not make us soft, or cause her to lose some light over the responsibility. It's good that the High One is near; maybe she can mentor Brooksong.**

**Are you alright now?** Crowspirit asked, looking to his arm with concern. She was sure he was, but believed in always double checking.

Everhome Tree-Crowspirit and Silence Empty Re: Everhome Tree-Crowspirit and Silence

Silence agreed, both tribes were lucky that the high one was a fabulous healer.

The compliment made him feel good. It was one of the many things he liked about Crowspirit, she made always an honest compliment, it was good to feel accepted, without the exaggeration. Silence didn't like to brag about things he considered as normal. He beamed and smiled warmly when he sent ** Yes, we were a good team, out there. ** He paused a little and continued, **You're also a very good hunter, maybe we can go on a hunt together again just us and our wolves, it has been too long that we have done that.**

Silence changed his position a little ** I agree that we can't go for every minor scratch to a healer, it would weaken us. I'm glad though that we have healers when it's serious. I remember when I wandered alone, I got sick once, and for days I thought that I wouldn't see the other day, but the fever finally broke and we'll I'm still alive and kicking, and in excellent health.** He tried to end with a little humor but he knew that he was failing badly and got serious again.

** Yes, I think you're right, it would be best for Brooksong if she would be guided by Kaimeta. I think she's the best person to teach Brooksong how to keep the balance between limited healing capacities and unlimited desire to heal everyone.**

Silence stayed quiet for awhile. The thought of Kaimeta remembered him that he knew another gossip to tell. He smiled again, with a twinkle in his eyes, he sent ** But perhaps the high one, will have other priorities**

Everhome Tree-Crowspirit and Silence Empty Re: Everhome Tree-Crowspirit and Silence

Crowspirit bowed her head both as a respectful acknowledgement of the hunt leader's suggestion, as well as in slight discomfort at the compliment. It pleased her, of course, and she was glad she could have valuable skills for the tribe, but she never knew what to do when a compliment came her way. Her eyes were warm as she lifted her head to meet Silence's gaze once more. **Thank you, I would be honoured,** she sent.

Her face fell when he spoke of his time alone. **That must've been terrible,** Her sending was quiet, and somewhat empty due to a lack of not knowing what to say. Still, however, in no way did it lack sincerity. She felt she should reach out with a comforting hand, or something, but she didn't. Crowspirit hated thinking of, or seeing, those close to her in any kind of dispair, but this kind was not her strength. Wounds could be treated, bellies filled, and enemies driven away, but in intimate situations like this, she never knew what to say or do. It made her feel helpless, and she hated that. Offering her friend the last piece of daggertooth, she sent again, **Good thing you are with us now.**

**We'll also need to take some responsibility as she learns,** Crowspirit mused as they continued to discuss Brooksong's new abilities, **We can't go to her for every scratch, and should try to avoid serious injuries so we don't overwhelm her. Maybe going off right now isn't such a good idea, she thought.

Taking advantage of the silence, the she-elf repositioned herself on the branch. She was now lying on the it, facing Silence with her head propped in her hand, so that the two were now at eye level. **Oh?** she queried, prompting him to continue.
